Hi, from Feb 11, SMS pack 35 will offer 4500 Nat/Loc SMS (30 days val). Daily SMS limit of 200 SMS.
Tata is the leading bulk SMS provider in India and Tata Docomo only offered this cheap (cheapest indeed) sms tariff to Kolkata for a long time & this recent slash in sms count will sure effect the users. How? See this simple calculation below
Suppose an user used to send all 200 sms per day limited by TRAI. Till date it was all fine with Tata Docomo cause the user were able to send a maximum limit of 6000 sms in a month(30 days). But from 11th February 2012 this user will be able to send 200sms per day but he/she have to recharge again in the 23rd day (cause 200*22=4400 next day he/she will be able to send only 100sms left. And if he/she is used to send to 200 per day then he/she have to recharge). But the users who send at most 150 sms per day will not face any difficulties from this tariff change cause they will be able to send 150*30=4500 sms per month(30 days) as they used to send before.
What we think?
In this competitive market Tata Docomo was the only player who offered such a cheap tariff. But this tariff change may not affect their customer base cause still the tariff is cheapest among all other providers. But if any of the other providers rolls out a cheaper plan, current customers of Tata Docomo will port their numbers to the provider cause MNP is now available & almost hassle free. But we must think as there is trend of tariff hike is going on, Tata Docomo is still in a safe place. Let's see what happens next.
