Few months ago we published an article that DoT will now be monitoring activities of users in some popular Social Networking websites such as In Facebook, Twitter etc. And after that there was another news roaming around that Govt. of India (IT Ministry) has ordered or perhaps requested the Search Giant Google, Bing & Social network Facebook, Twitter etc. to remove offensive contents from ther websites. But till date it was just an read only article for the Social Networks & they used some law enforcement & privacy policy excuse to bypass the order. Though they have removed many contents but they are not that active as Govt. wants to be them. But now on Friday the Govt. took anotehr step to power up their order. Metropolitan Magistrate & board has sanctioned the power of prosecuting Social networking websites for promoting sensitive & offensive contents. The authority has gone through the entire records & probes they stated that there is much content in them to proceed against the accused authority under section 153-A, 153-B & 295-A of the Indian Penal Code. The previous summon against the social networking sites were for alleged criminal conspiracy & obscene object distribution among the young population; the offences were booked for three years in comparison to the new term of 5years max.
Now one thing is clear that in India social networking sites will hava to tighten up their belt to keep their operations running here. And they have to be more active & concerned about what contents are being distibuted via them. Cause if any type of probelms arise in future they will be in deep trouble.
